We entered the editing process ambitiously, with anticipation to witness all recorded footage from the shoot day. We sat down and began deciphering footage; we opened the folder acquiring the footage and began consulting our group members on what we felt was appropriate to use or disregard in terms of applying to our final opening sequence. We then watched all the footage and made the calculated decision of what to keep. We then created our own folders, entitled the actresses’ names and scenes in chronological order to sustain the flow of the editing process and benefit the organisation throughout the process. We began attaching clips and adjusting shot durations to attain knowledge of the structure, we refined and developed these clips by shortening or lengthening the duration to what our group felt was appropriate. Once fully edited we began working on titles & the colour connotation surrounding this, as well as the title placement. We included the production company and the director in doing so, we used the font function to attach a bold font that expressed the nature of the film. We then included the title of the film which was ‘This is The Day’. We understood that soundtrack was a fundamental element of the final opening sequence as it sets the tone / atmosphere of the genre and allures target audiences to the product. Therefore, we searched Adobe stock a function provided by the software that supplies non-copyright soundtrack to apply to film and in our circumstance, opening sequences. We applied a non-copyright soundtrack that prevailed the foreboding themes of our sequence and further embellished the overall atmosphere. We then progressed to colour grading, where we adjusting the colouration of our sequence to ensure all shots were stylistically exquisite.

We utilised the iMac computers supplied by Hurtwood’s media department to edit our final opening sequence’s which contributed to the success in development of our sequence. We used the Adobe Premiere Pro software provided by the iMacs to construct the sequence and without them we’d have no opportunity to further develop our sequence’s. Overall, this benefited us substantially within the post-production segment of this project.

Online

'YouTube'

After having edited our sequence, it was uploaded to the distributor ‘YouTube’ more specically on the channel ‘Hurtwood House Media’. This was a crucial element to our post-production process within this project and benefited heavily to the success in development regarding our final opening sequence. This distributor allowed us the opportunity for popularity and the capability to create awareness and demand regarding our product.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we integrated essential technologies including; hardware, software and online in the development process throughout this project that were instrumental to our success as a group and our final opening sequence. From initial pitches, cultivating ideas and exceptional concepts, to shooting the sequence itself and utilising professional camera equipment to finally editing the sequence and having it distributed on a global platform we have always prioritised collaboration, which was key to our success as a production group.
